Five Arrested, Police Seize $104,000 Worth Of Marijuana

Five men were arrested and quantities of marijuana seized by officers of the Southern Division during an anti crime exercise conducted in the La Romaine district yesterday morning.

Officers of the Southern Division Task Force, conducted an exercise around 5:35am on Saturday along the South Trunk Road, La Romaine, during which they had cause to stop and search a silver Toyota Corolla motor vehicle with three male occupants.

The search resulted in officers finding 7.2 kilogrammes of marijuana. The drug has an estimated street value of $72,000.

The three suspects; a 32-year-old and a 24-year-old both of Tunapuna and a 23-year-old of San Juan, were arrested in connection with the find.

During the same exercise, officers had cause to stop and search a white Nissan AD Wagon with two male occupants a few minutes later.

The search resulted in officers finding three packets containing 3.2 kilogrammes of marijuana. The drug has an estimated street value of $32,000.

The two suspects, a 22-year-old of Chickland and a 21 year-old of San Fernando were arrested in connection with the find.

Investigations are ongoing.
