For the first time ever JSC dismisses a member

By Newsroom

For the first time in T&T’s history a Member of Parliament (MP) has been voted off a Joint Select Committee (JSC). Oropouche East MP Dr. Roodal Moonilal was yesterday thrown out of a JSC after a motion was put forward by the Leader of the House, Camille Robinson-Regis.

The motion was passed by a vote of 17 for and 13 against. Robinson-Regis said the measure was necessary because Moonilal had been identified by Police Comissioner, Gary Griffith, as being involved with a report in relation to gang members.

Moonilal responded to the decision saying: “This is the stuff that political suicide is made of. I will fight them on the pavement. The people will hear me on the streets.”
