Former U-17 World Cup Captain dies

Roderick Anthony, a former National Youth Football Captain died in a car crash in Tobago on Wednesday night.

The accident occurred near the Old Grange Road while 36-year-old Anthony was on his way home after attending the wake of Taury Ramsey who, tragically enough, was killed in a car crash on New Year’s morning.

Anthony was captain of the Under-17 team that played in the 2001 Youth  World Cup. He was also a prolific Inter Col midfielder and represented both Naparima College and  St Anthony’s College after which he had a brief stint with Central based club W. Connection.

Anthony was reported to be a front-seat passenger in the car that crashed. The driver is warded at hospital.

 He is the second road fatality for the year in the Sister Isle, after Ramsey.
