Four Detained For Questioning In Andrea Bharatt Case

By Newsroom

Police are hoping that the four suspects detained in connection with Andrea Bharatt’s kidnapping which occured in Arima on Friday night will put them closer to finding the young woman.

The suspects, three from Malabar and one from Petit Bourg, were held on Sunday, after officers reviewed footage from closed circuit television cameras from businesses in Arima.

Bharatt, an employee at the Arima Magistrates’ Court and a recent graduate of the University of the West Indies, boarded a taxi with a friend along King Street at around 5:50pm on Friday, however the driver failed to drop her at her home along the Arima Old Road after dropping off her friend at Cleaver Heights.

When she never made it to her home on the Arima Old Road, a phone call to the woman’s  cell phone from her father, Randy Bharatt at around 7:30pm was answered by a man who demanded a ransom payment from the family.

Police Commissioner Gary Griffith is leading the investigation being conducted by the Anti-Kidnapping Squad of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service.
