Gary Seeks Public Cooperation To Crack Down Covid Parties: “Police Can’t Be Everywhere”

By Newsroom

Police Commissioner Gary Griffith says it is impossible for him and his officers to be everywhere- and it is for this reason that the Top Cop is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying Covid parties so they can be shut down.

Commissioner Griffith says once the TTPS receives an alert about a party in progress it will not hesitate to act.

He noted, however, that some of the crowd photos posted to social media were old photos, thus sending police on a wild goose chase.

In a statement on Monday, Griffith also warned fete promoters that he has ordered his officers to intensify their patrols on parties, in an effort to ensure the Covid-19 Public Health Regulations are followed at all times.

It comes after 71 people were ticketed over the weekend at a large birthday celebration held at the Passage to Asia restaurant in Chaguanas.

Another party, held at Tyrico Bay on Sunday, was also shut down by police, according to the Commissioner.
