Government To Scrap Covid-19 ‘Safe Zone’ Vaccination Policy

By Newsroom

From April 4th, Covid-19 Safe Zones will cease to exist in Trinidad and Tobago – marking a significant step as government forges ahead in its preparation for the endemic stage of the virus.

The announcement was made by Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley during Saturday’s Covid-19 media conference.

It will permit non-vaccinated people to visit spaces such as restaurants and bars, which had previously been blocked in an effort to limit the spread of the virus.

Mask-wearing will, however, remain a requirement in all public spaces.

Dr. Rowley said individual responsibility will now be “the hallmark of our collective actions going forward.”

Read the other major announcements made by the Prime Minister below:

1. As of midnight tonight: No longer will a PCR test be required by all arrivals into Trinidad and Tobago. A rapid antigen test will now be all that is required. TT Travelpass will continue in the interim with a view to removing in the mean future.

2. From April 4, the Safe Zones will be done away with. You will however be required to continue to wear a mask in all public spaces with the exception of on the playing field.

3. All restrictions on visiting rivers and beaches will also be removed from April 4.

4. There will no longer be enforced limits on public gatherings from April 4.

5. Schools will reopen in full in Term 3 as previously indicated.
