Couva police have launched an investigation to determine the cause of an early morning fire which claimed the life of a man.

The victim, Soogrim Sookario, was discovered in the rubbles of his home along the Gran Couva Main Road when firefighters arrived at the scene around 2am.

Neighbors told investigators Sookario lived alone.

Enquiries are continuing.
