GUILTY VERDICT: Two Suspects Convicted In Sean Luke Murder Case

By Newsroom

After 15 years, justice has been handed down in the Sean Like murder cases, as the two accused, Akeel Mitchell and Richard Chatoo have been found guilty for the brutal murder of the six year old boy.

High Court Judge Lisa Ramsumair-Hinds handed down the guilty verdict this afternoon, saying she was certain the men carried out the crime.

Describing the murder as a planned, frenzied assault, Justice Ramsumair-Hinds said: “I weighed up all evidence globally and drew strands together from all the facts…I found that it all led to all inescapable inference, not…speculation.”

The pair, who were 14 and 16 when the crime occurred, will be sentenced on August 23rd.

The men are likely to be sentenced at the court’s pleasure with a minimum sentence and periods of review fixed by the judge.

The death penalty, however, cannot be imposed on those who were minors when they committed a crime.
