Gun and Ammunition Haul in Woodbrook

Two rifles and just over three thousand rounds of ammunition were found inside a washing machine and dryer which was being transported on a truck in Port of Spain on Monday.

Cops said they were acting on information when they proceeded “to the corner of French Street and Wrightson Road, Woodbrook, where they intercepted a white KIA H100 which was transporting a washing machine and dryer at the time.”A

“A search of the appliances was conducted and one AR rifle, one AK 47 rifle, four magazines and 3,058 assorted rounds of ammunition were discovered concealed within.

“A 42-year-old man of, North Post Road, Diego Martin and a 62-year-old man of Victory Gardens, Arima, were detained pending further investigations,” the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) reported.

Charges are imminent for both men.

The police said that “during the hours of 6:00am and 10:30pm, officers of the Northern Division Gang Unit and Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF), received information about illicit activities in the Port-of-Spain area which they acted on.”
