Winston Gypsy Peters has been approved by the screening committee of the People’s National Movement to contest the Moruga/Tableland seat in the upcoming general elections.

His approval from the PNM committee follows confirmation from the incumbent MP, Dr. Lovell Francis, who on Tuesday penned a note to his constituents informing them that he had not been selected to contest the seat.

Peters served as Minister of Arts and Multiculturalism under the People’s Partnership tenure however he left the party after he was not selected to contest the Mayaro seat for the September 7th election in 2015.

Peters was appointed Chairman of the National Carnival Commission in 2018.
