Health Minister Apologizes For Delay In COVID-19 Results

By Newsroom

Health Minister Terrence Deyalsingh says his Ministry is working to resolve a backlog in COVID-19 test results, so patients who are currently being kept at the State’s step down facilities can find out of they are eligible to go home.

Speaking at Saturday’s media briefing, Minister Deyalsingh pleaded with the patients to wait for another day while the authorities address the matter.

“I want to sincerely apologise to all of those persons in our step-down or quarantine facilities who have not yet received your results. I humbly apologise. I can only imagine the anxiety you are going through because you did not call this upon yourselves,” he said.

There are currently 283 patients across the state’s step down facilities, according to the Ministry’s morning update.

“We hope to get your results in the shortest possible timeframe so you can go back home. I do apologise, and simply ask that you bear with us for another day or so,” the Health Minister added.
