Health Minister Signs Allowance For Extension of Practicing Certificates For Pharmacists

By Newsroom

In an effort to avoid a disruption of pharmaceutical services in both the public and private health sectors, Health Minister Terrence Deyalsingh has signed a regulation extending the certificates of pharmacists whose practicing certificates were valid before January 14th.

The Ministry of Health acknowledges the concerns expressed by the public over the failure of the Council of the Pharmacy Board of Trinidad and Tobago, to issue practicing certificates for the period January 15, 2023 to January 14, 2024 to Pharmacists who have duly paid their annual retention fees,” a statement read on Monday afternoon.

The certificate will now remain in force until a new certificate is issued.

“Minister Terrence Deyalsingh has signed the Pharmacy Board (Amendment) Regulations, 2023, which allow for a practicing certificate which was valid and subsisting immediately before January 14, 2023, to remain in force until a certificate for the period January 15, 2023 to January 14, 2024, is issued, if the holder of the certificate has paid the required annual retention fee,” the MoH release said.

The Ministry said these Regulations will be published later today.
