Health Minister Urges More Healthcare Workers To Get Vaccinated

By Newsroom

To date, a total 8,861- or roughly 50% of healthcare workers- have been vaccinated against Covid-19.

Government is hoping to see that figure go up  up to about 12,000.

The matter was raised at Saturday’s Covid-19 media briefing, by Health Minister Terrence Deyalsingh.

“So we need about 4,000 more healthcare workers to come out to be vaccinated. All five RHAs will be going on another drive again, to get more and more healthcare workers vaccinated. While 8,861 may sound good- it could be a lot better. Especially as these individuals work in close conjunction with Covid-19 positive patients,” he said.

Other Vaccination Efforts, as outlined by Minister Deyalsingh.

At Saturday’s media briefing, the Health Minister also revealed plans to extend vaccination efforts to the following groups:

-Those in the prisons (including inmates)

-Maxi and taxi drivers

-Agriculture workers

-Public sector workers in ministries

-Workers in the food and beverage industry

-Bank  and Credit union employees

-Clergy members
