Healthcare Worker is Tobago’s Second COVID-19 Case

A healthcare worker at the Scarborough General Hospital, is the second case of coroniavirus on the sister isle, Tobago.  The worker who has since been isolated will be transferred to Trinidad to undergo additional treatment. A news release from the Tobago Division of Wellness and Health said:   The following procedures have since been implemented:  
  • Meetings have been held with staff at the Scarborough General Hospital to inform them of the situation and to provide them with the necessary psychological support.
 
  • The Hospital will be deeply sanitized and the scheduled, regular cleaning and disinfection will continue.
 
  • Contact tracing is on-going. The Division reiterates its call to the public to inform us of any person who has a travel history within the past 14 days. Please contact the Office of the County Medical Officer of Health at 639-3751, so that those persons can be monitored
  Further updates as at Friday 27 th March, 2020, 10:00am:  
  • Number of samples submitted to Caribbean Public Health Agency
(CARPHA) laboratory to test for COVID-19 = 15
  • Number of samples that tested positive = 2
  • Number of remaining persons at the Division’s quarantine facilities = 63
