The new government will be lead by the People’s National Movement once more, as the party won 22 of the 41 constituency seats up for grabs in Monday’s general election. 

This despite the PNM losing some footing with one seat- Moruga/Tableland- which crossed over to the United National Congress’ candidate, Michelle Benjamin.

The Opposition has indicated it intends to recount three of the marginal seats- after which Opposition Leader Kamla Persad Bissessar says she will either concede or claim victory.
