High Court Judge, Justice Vasheist Kokaram today delivered a 173-page judgment at the Hall of Justice in Port of Spain to stop PM Dr. Keith Rowley’s decision to refuse to invoke impeachment proceedings against Chief Justice Ivor Archie.

He also remitted the Law Association of T&T report to him for reconsideration and added that this time he should use “an open mind” to evaluate it. Even though the decision went in the LATT’s favour Justice Kokaram said that Rowley’s decision was not illegal or unfair.

Justice Kokoram added that the prime minister had: “muddied the waters of what should be a purely objective exercise of determining whether there was a prima facie case of a serious act of misconduct or inability to perform his function warranting the removal of the Chief Justice.”
