Home of Football Approved As A Step-Down Facility For COVID-19

The recently constructed Home of Football located in Couva, a stone’s throw from the Couva Hospital, will be used as a step-down facility for COVID-19 patients.

Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley said on Thursday that it will come at no cost for the government and that the private sector has decided to take on the cost of outfitting the incomplete building, which has 72 rooms.

The Home of Football was constructed on State Lands given by the government to the Trinidad and Tobago Football Association, TTFA, and financed by FIFA.

Meantime, Health Minister Terrence Deyalsingh said that he has received a report from the Eastern Regional Health Authority (ERHA) on the Step-Down Facility in Sangre Grande, for which the government may have paid at least TT$300,000. Deyalsingh said the report was sent to the legal department of the Ministry of Health after which he will give a statement. on the report.
