Ian Alleyne has confirmed that he has tested positive for the Covid-19 virus. He posted the following message on Facebook:

“To the Cherished Advertisers and Fans of Crime Watch,
I want to advise you that on March 24th 2020, I was informed that I had tested positive for the COVID-19 virus. As a result, and in line with the protocols outlined by Health Officials and the Government, I have been quarantined for a minimum period of 15 days.
It is therefore with deep regret that the Crime Watch programme will put on hold for at least the next 21 days, while I try to recover from this very serious virus. I know the importance of the show to you, but in these very challenging and unusual times, this is beyond my control.
As a result, all advertisers will have their packages extended for the period that the show is off air, and you can contact our advertising department which will give you further details. In the interim, I propose to air re-runs of some of the highest rated programmes.
I wish to thank all of you for your prayers and kind thoughts for a speedy recovery, as I also extend my best wishes to all those who have fallen victim to this very serious disease, and my prayers for a speedy recovery for all of you.
I wish to thank the Ministry of Health, and all those who have extended tremendous support in this difficult time for my family and I. This has been an alarming and terrifying moment for my entire family, and in trying to come to terms with this frightening news I never intended to cause any undue panic or undue alarm, and my apologies if that was so.
I urge all of you; please adhere to the instructions given by health officials. Even if you did not exhibit symptoms, as in my case, it is safer to isolate. Do not congregate and please respect the call for social distancing. Wash your hands, Avoid touching your face. It is easy to be lulled into complacency but take my word for it; vigilance is your best bet right now.
God’s blessings to all of you.
Yours Truly,
Ian Alleyne
