Sheldon Ramnath one of the two employees who stole $10 000 from talk show host Ian Alleyne has been fined $12 000 for the larceny. Alleyne was in court and begged for leniency for his employee to be spared jail time. Yesterday the court heard that Ramnath had no pending matters before the court and was a father.

Senior magistrate Rajendera Rambachan gave the sentence at Chaguanas magistrate court, earlier today. Ramnath has to pay $6000 immediately and was given time to pay the balance. If he can’t finish the payments in time, he will serve two years in jail with hard labour. The other suspect in the case Akile Simon, was remanded into custody until February 12.
