Finance Minister Colm Imbert says government’s move to remove income tax payments for employees earning less than $7000, will benefit some 250,000 taxpayers.

This was one of the measures announced in his budget presentation on Monday.

Previously, employees earning more than $6000 were subject to personal income tax.

In a tweet on Wednesday, Minister Imbert said this figure (250,000) makes up 75% of the workforce.

The move comes in effect in January 2021.
