By Newsroom

Finance Minister Colm Imbert is defending the contents of the Finance Bill 2020, after Opposition Senator Wade Mark accused government of formulating the legislation solely for the benefit of German based company MPC Caribbean Clean Energy.

In a press briefing today, Minister Imbert clarified that the bill’s offer of 10 years tax exemption is, in fact, targeted at any small and medium business wanting to become listed on the SME section of T&T’s stock exchange.

He further pointed out that presently, only two companies are listed on the stock exchange- Cinema One and Endeavour Holding.
