U.S. President Donald Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill could drive up fees associated with applying for U.S. visas for T&T nationals. The change could also apply to immigration benefits. The new legislation was passed signed into law on July 4.
According to the U.S. Congressional Budget Office (CBO), the bill could add $3.3 trillion to the U.S. national deficit over the next decade. To offset that, the legislation proposes several new charges and increases to existing fees in the visa, asylum, and immigration process.
The new US$250 “Visa Integrity Fee” will be added to the regular visa application cost. For T&T nationals, a B1/B2 tourist visa currently costs US$185. If granted, the total payment now will go up to US$435, or almost TT$3,000. The amount will be adjusted annually for inflation and may be increased by order of the Secretary of Homeland Security.
