By Newsroom

Health Minister Terrence Deyalsingh and Foreign and CARICOM Affairs Minister Dr. Amery Browne were on hand at the Piarco International Airport on Tuesday night to receive the shipment of 40,000 Astra-Zeneca vaccines courtesy the Indian government.

The shipment arrived in Trinidad at 10:22 pm,  via an Amerijet aircraft, according to a post on the Health Ministry’s official Facebook page.

The vaccines were initially scheduled to arrive in Trinidad on Monday but had been postponed due to inclement weather.

The donation is the second batch of vaccines government has received. Last month, an inital 33,600 vaccines were received through the Covax Facility.

Since the rollout began one week ago, a total of 10,360 have already been administered their first dose.
