IT’S OFFICIAL: SEA Exams To Be Held In August

Students due to sit the Secondary Entrance Assessment (SEA) exam this year can now breathe a collective sigh of relief, as Education Minister Anthony Garcia has confirmed the exam will take place on August 20th. 

Speaking at a media briefing on Wednesday, Minister Garcia said classes will resume exactly one month ahead of the exam on July 20th, for students to prepare.

This means teachers will be required to report to classes during the July/August vacation- for which they will receive a stipend according to Minister Garcia.

Principals will be paid $900 per day, while vice-principals will receive $650 per day. Senior teachers will be paid $600 and heads of departments, $550.

A Teacher 1 will receive $500, while assistant teachers will be offered a stipend of $400 per day.

“We asking our teachers to make themselves available so that they will be able to impart that knowledge and that teaching so that our students will have every opportunity of performing to their ability,” Garcia said.

Meanwhile, the Education Minister said overall classes are set to begin on September 1st.
