Jamaica Set To Receive Third Shipment Of Covid Vaccines

FLASHBACK: Jamaica's Health Minister Dr. Christopher Tufton receives vaccines through the Covax Facility on March 14th

The Jamaican government is set to receive an additional 75,000 doses of the Astra-Zeneca vaccine, this time through the African Medical Supplies Platform.

This is the third shipment of vaccines to the island; t he country was the first Caribbean nation to receive vaccines through the Covax Facility, accepting 14,000 vaccines on March 14th. 

Days later Jamaica received its gift of 50,000 vaccines courtesy the Indian government.

Roughly 38,000 Jamaicans have already been vaccinated to date and Health Minister Christopher Tufton said his ministry intends to host 25 major vaccination drives over the next three months. 

Jamaica has recorded 38,848 cases of the virus to date and 17,474 deaths.
