Job Losses Loom As Trent Restaurant Announces Closure Of Trotters San-Fernando

By Newsroom

Trent Restaurants has announced that it will close the San Fernando branch of  Trotters for good, citing the current COVID-19 restrictions has forced them to take the decision.

In a statement on Friday, the parent company said because “the present rate of 30-40 new covid19 cases a day did not warrant the reopening of in-store dining and now added to this the reopening of the other sectors of the economy, such as beaches and places of worship, both of which would have the propensity for daily case rates to increase, it was “only reasonable for us to surmise that our industry will not be reopening for the foreseeable future.”

The company says it is doing all it could to assist the displaced employees as a result of the decision.

This is the second restaurant to be closed by Trent Restaurants, with Blue Star Diner being the first in September.

Curbside service is available at other restaurants under the parent company, including Buzo Restaurant, Trotters in Port of Spain, Amara and Tommy’s.
