Jovenel Moïse Assassination: Haitian Police Detain 26 Foreign Suspects

By Newsroom

Police authorities in Haiti say a group of 26 foreign mercenaries, including retired Colombian soldiers, were responsible for Wednesday’s assassination of President Jovenel Moïse.

Seventeen of those suspects have already been detained, with authorities clarifying the number of suspects killed is four. Several international publications on Monday reported that the number killed was seven.

It is still unclear who organized the attack and with what motive.

President Moïse was killed with 12 gunshots from high powered guns, a cache of which have also been seized with the arrests made.

Meanwhile, Haiti’s First Lady Martine Moïse remains in stable condition at a medical facility in Florida, where she was flown to following Wednesday’s attack at her home in the capital Port-au-Prince in which she was seriously injured and her husband killed.
