By Newsroom

The Ministry of Education will host a Junior Soca Competition on what it calls Terrific Thursday, 20th February.

This comes on the heels of the decision by the original promoters Caribbean Prestige Foundation which decided that the National Schools Soca Monarch should be restructured.

The competition will be staged at the  Auditorium, Government Campus Plaza in Port of Spain.

“Cultural education formed an important part of students’ education. We have a responsibility at the Ministry of Education to ensure that our culture is being kept alive,” education Minister Anthony Garcia said.

“Competitions like this, give students the opportunity to showcase their talents and abilities. It also represents the opportunity to value the hard work of teachers and parents working together for the benefit of our students,” Minister Garcia said.

This is the second time that the Ministry will host the competition. The inaugural Junior Soca Competition took place in 2018 when the CPF made a similar announcement just one week before the event.

The competition format will be a single round. Registration is open online until 16th February 2020 at 11:00 pm.
