A woman identified as Kernella Saunders was shot dead by a stray bullet as gunmen opened fire a short distance from her home at Daniel Trace, Malabar on Tuesday night.

The victim had reportedly been coming out of her bathroom when she was hit. She died at the scene.

A second woman was also killed in the incident, however her identity has not yet been confirmed.  The second victim was taken to the Arima Hospital for emergency treatment, however she was pronounced dead while receiving medical attention. Police believe she may have been the intended target.

Investigations into the incident are continuing.
