Magistrate Grants Bail Via Video Conference for Child Cruelty and Grievous Sexual Assault

Charged with two counts of cruelty of a child, a 42 year old man of San Francique , was granted bail via video conference with Siparia Magistrate Margaret Alert. Avanash Ragoo ( at left in photo) of Chickorie Trace, San Francique, was granted bail in the sum of TT$70,000 and is due to reappear in court on April 29th. The victims, one adult female and two female minors, reported to police that on Friday 27th March 2020 they got into a heated altercation with Ragoo, during which he physically assaulted them. Ragoo was arrested and charged with the offences on Saturday 28th March In  another instance, A  45 year old Laventille  taxi driver  was granted bail in the sum of $150,000 when he also appeared before a Port of Spain Magistrate this week via video conferencing, charged with Assault by Beating and Grievous Sexual assault. Terry Murrel of Boxhill Trace ( at right in photo), appeared before the Magistrate on Wednesday, one day after he was arrested and charged   and the matter was adjourned to Wednesday 29th April 2020. The victim reported to police that on Monday 24th March 2020, she and the accused got into a heated argument, during which he held her by the throat and sexually assaulted her.
