One man was arrested and a firearm and ammunition seized by officers of the Maloney Police Station on Saturday.

The arrest was made during an anti-crime exercise conducted by officers of the Maloney Crime Unit supervised by Sgt Guelmo.

Officers were on mobile patrol in the vicinity of the Building 14 car park when they observed the suspect known to them on the north eastern entrance holding the left side of his waist. The suspect upon seeing the officers, turned quickly and started walking away.

The officers gave chase and held the suspect a short distance away in the staircase area, carried out a search of the suspect and found in the left side of his pants waist, a Colt .38 firearm and six rounds of .38 ammunition.

He was arrested and taken to the Maloney Police Station.
