A man has appeared before a Master of the High Court charged with the murder of Deborah Gopaul in Tobago.
Hilton Ollivierre, age 49, was formally charged with the crime on Monday.
Gopaul, 56, who lived in Crown Point, was found dead inside a burning vehicle along the Claude Noel Highway on the night of March 26th.
She was the island’s sixth murder victim for the year.
There have been ten murders to date in Tobago.
This week, Chief Secretary Farley Augustine announced that specialist police units will be introduced on the island by month’s end to address the upsurge in crime.
The Defence Force currently stationed at Signal Hill, will also make patrols.
