A 60 year old Sangre Grande man will spend the next 18 months behind bars, after he was found guilty for unlawful possession of two fowl cocks.

Aldwyn Johnn was arrested by officers of the Praedial Larceny Squad on May 22nd in Sangre Chiquito after he was seen acting suspiciously while  carrying a crocus bag. Upon seeing the officers, John ran off, leaving the bag behind. A chase ensued and John was held a short distance away.

He was immediately arrested and taken to the Sangre Grande Police Station along with the birds, where he was charged for unlawful possession. John appeared before Sangre Grande Magistrate Dobay where he was unable to give a lawful account as to how he came in possession of the birds.

He has been ordered to serve 18 months hard labour.
