Manslaughter Charge For Boy Involved In Shooting Death Of 16 Year Old Tamika Griffith

Fatally Shot: 16 year old Tamika Griffith

Just over two weeks after 16 year old Tamika Griffith was fatally shot at her home in Claxton Bay, a teenaged boy of the same age has been charged with the killing.

The manslaughter charge was ordered by Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions, Ms Joan Honore-Paul.

On  February 9th, police responded to a report of explosions at Sookoo Trace, Claxton Bay.

Upon arrival, the officers met the accused at the scene. The officers then made a check and observed Tamika Griffith gasping for breath while slumped on a brown wooden couch, with an apparent gunshot wound to her head. Insp Ramlogan observed and retrieved one nine-millimetre calibre spent casing in the said living room and handed over same to PC Mahadeo.

PC Mahadeo and WPC Alexander conveyed the injured girl to the San Fernando General Hospital, where whilst being medically treated succumbed to her injuries around 4.10 pm.

The 16-year-old boy was arrested him on the same date and was later released pending further investigations.

He was rearrested on February 24th.

The boy, a form four pupil,  allegedly told officers that a man asked him to keep the firearm for him, in exchange for $150 per week.
