Mike Pence Rejects Democrats Call For Him To Invoke 25th Amendment To Oust President Trump

By Newsroom

US Vice President Mike Pence has written to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, rejecting her call for him to invoke the 25th Amendment which would remove Donald Trump from his Presidency and put Pence in the role until Joe Biden is sworn in.

In his letter, he stated, in part, “With just eight days left in the president’s term, you and the Democratic Caucus are demanding that the Cabinet and I invoke the 25th Amendment. I do not believe that such a course of action is in the best interest of our Nation or consistent with the Constitution,”

The Democratic-controlled House is poised to vote tomorrow on impeaching President Donald Trump for inciting a violent mob of his supporters who attacked the U.S. Capitol last week.

Four Republican representatives, including third-ranking GOP member Liz Cheney, have said they’ll vote to impeach Trump. The president of the United States summoned this mob, assembled the mob, and lit the flame of this attack,” Cheney said.

Mr. Trump has called the impeachment plan “ridiculous” and the cause of “tremendous anger.”
