By Newsroom

The circumstances which led to National Security Minister Stuart Young falling and injuring himself on Tuesday ( see video below) will be investigated by the  Occupational  Safety and  Health (OSH)  Authority and Agency.

“The incident, which occurred at the Penal Fire Station, is now engaging the attention of the OSH Agency,” it was reported in a news release on Wednesday morning

“Appropriate action will be taken pending the conclusion of the investigation,” the OSH Authority promised.

“ The Occupational Safety and Health Agency notes with interest the incidents which occurred at the official opening ceremony of the Penal Fire Station on March 10, at which the Minister of National Security the Honourable Stuart Young and another member of the public (in a separate incident) suffered injuries.

“We take this opportunity to extend best wishes to them and hope they have a speedy recovery.

“The Occupational Safety and Health Act Chap. 88:08 places a duty on employers and occupiers to ensure that premises are, so far as is reasonably practicable, safe and without risks to their employees and persons not in their employ.

“This includes conducting an assessment of the risks and taking the necessary steps to ensure that the risks are reduced to as low as is reasonably practicable,” the Authority says.
