Ministry of Agriculture Employee Facing Several Corruption Charges

GENELLE ASHE, a Patrol Woman, employed with the Ministry of Agriculture and the Office of the Commissioner of State Lands has been charged with several counts of corruption. She appeared at the Couva Magistrates’ Court yesterday. According to the TTPS, the 34-year-old woman was remanded into custody after it was alleged that she corruptly agreed to accept for herself the sums of $4,500, $8,000 and $10,000. The funds were reportedly collected from unauthorised occupiers of State Lands situated at Basta Hall Village, Couva as a reward for doing for granting them permission to occupy and fence the said parcels of State Lands.
