A 32 year old man was denied bail when he appeared before a Scarborough Magistrate in Tobago on Monday, charged with sexual assault of a 16 year old girl.

The man was arrested by Tobago Division Task Force officers after a search warrant was carried out at his home.

There, they found the 16-year-old female victim who had been reported missing on May 20. Child Protective Unit (CPU) officers were informed and conducted enquiries.

The accused was subsequently arrested and charged with one (1) count of sexual penetration of a minor after it was learned that he allegedly had sexual relations with the victim.

He appeared before Magistrate Cedeno at the Scarborough Magistrates’ Court on Monday and denied bail.

The matter was postponed to July 20th, 2020.

The accused had been charged for a similar offence in 2018. That matter is still pending.
