MOH Clarifies Policy: Sinopharm Vaccine Approved For Breastfeeding Mothers Only, Not Pregnant Women

By Newsroom

The Ministry of Health’s policy remains that pregnant women are ineligible to receive a Covid-19 vaccine at this time.

This was clarified via a statement issued on Friday, in which the Ministry revealed its recent policy change allows only breastfeeding mothers to take the Sinopharm vaccine.

The policy was adjusted following consultation by the National Immunisation Technical Advisory Group, which is headed by Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Roshan Parasram.

“Women in this category (breastfeeding mothers) should therefore feel secure in taking the Sinpoharm COVID-19 vaccine once it becomes available to them,” the Ministry assured.
