By Newsroom

The Ministry of Health has revealed that there reports that criminals are trying to profit from the Covid-19 pandemic. They’ve asked the public to ensure that if anyone says that they are a ministry official that they present their identification at all times.

In a statement the ministry said: “The Ministry of Health is aware of the report that criminals are masquerading as public health employees and requesting access to homes, to allegedly take body temperature readings, as part of the national COVID-19 response.

While the overall management of the spread of COVID-19 in Trinidad and Tobago does include home visits by public health employees, the Ministry advises that all public health staff who conduct these duties are required to have official Ministry of Health or Regional Health Authority photo identification badges clearly displayed on their person at all times.

These identification badges must be presented to the resident upon request. If the individual refuses to display their identification or present it upon request, the public is advised to immediately terminate further contact, lock their doors and contact the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service using the 999 emergency number.”
