Morvant Residents Protest After Three Killed By Police Over The Weekend

By Newsroom

Enraged over the killing of three men by police in Morvant over the weekend, residents took to the streets on Monday, demanding some sort of justice for the lives lost.

Members of the community blocked the Lady Young Road on Monday afternoon, creating a significant backup of traffic along the Lady Young Road.

Hours after Police Constable Allen Mosely’s bullet riddled body was found at Old Road in Morvant on Saturday, three men were shot and killed by police at a nearby street, Juman Drive.

While Police Commissioner Gary Griffith has said both incidents were unrelated, for many within the community, the coincidence is far too uncanny.

The Police Complaints Authority said on Sunday that it had launched an investigation, to determine whether there was, in fact, a misuse of power by officers attempting to take justice into their own hands.

Two of the men who were killed by the officers have been identified as Joel Jacobs and Israel Clinton; investigators are still attempting to determine the identity of the third man.

Police claimed a black Beretta pistol with a quantity of live ammunition were found and seized at the rear seat of the car.
