Man Granted $75,000 Bail For Alleged Involvement In Kidnapping

A Guapo man appeared before a Point Fortin Magistrate via video conferencing on Thursday, for his alleged role in the March 28th kidnapping of a La Brea Man.

Jeffrey Despot, 50, of Beach Road, Vance River Village, Guapo, is among four men charged with the crime.

The victim reported to police that he was at one of his properties at Beach Road, Vance River Village, La Brea, on March 28, when he got into an argument with four persons known to him.

The victim told police he was bound and tied in a house for about 10 minutes, while he was beaten by the assailants.

The three other men were arrested and charged in connection with the incident between April and May.

Despot subsequently surrendered himself to officers of the Guapo Police Station on Tuesday and was charged on Wednesday.

He was granted bail in the sum of $75,000 with surety or $20,000 cash at the end of his hearing on Thursday.

The matter was adjourned to July 23rd.
