A shooting incident at Printeryville Road in Arima on Wednesday afternoon has left one man dead. 

The victim has been identified as 25 year old Brandon Atkins.

Residents in the community reported hearing what appeared to be gunshots shortly before 1:30pm. Upon investigating they saw two men escaping  in a white vehicle, leaving Atkins’ lifeless body lying on the roadway. 

Northern Division officers and the Homicide Bureau responded shortly after.

Just last month, Atkins was fined $16,000 for damaging a marked police vehicle. He had been arrested for throwing stones behind the police car during an operation and was subsequently charged with malicious damage to a marked police vehicle, obscene language, resisting arrest and throwing missiles.

He pleaded guilty to the offences.
