New Flavour For Soca Monarch

With just about two weeks to go before the Semifinals of the International Soca Monarch (ISM) Competition, Simon Baptiste has accepted the role as Creative Director.

The announcement came over the weekend as ISM Director Geoffrey Wharton-Lake explained “we already have a base and as the creative director we expect that he will add some flavour to it,” Lake said.

The news comes on the heels of reports that Fay-Ann Lyons, who was appointed as Chairman in 2019 opted out of working for the 2020 edition.

“I be­lieve in giv­ing the pub­lic a So­ca Monarch they de­serve and with lim­it­ed time, it be­comes hard­er to ac­com­plish…” Lyons explained in a Facebook Post.

Registration began on  Saturday and continues until  Friday at 6 PM after which the semifinalists will be announced for the next stage of the competition which will be held on February 2nd at the Arima Velodrome.

Once again the Power Soca winner will get TT$1million while the sinner of the Groovy category will be able t0 pocket TT$500,000

 Simon Baptiste is the founder and CEO of Question Mark Entertainment which handles some top artistes on its roster.
