New Grande Hospital To Be Completed In 2022

By Newsroom

Construction of the new Sangre Grande Hospital is earmarked to be completed by December 2022.

This is according to Health Minister, Terrence Deyalsingh, who, in a site visit yesterday said the project was progressing in good time and within the allocated budget of $1 billion.

The new hospital, which is located behind the existing one, will be a three-storey building with a capacity for 106 beds.

Austrian firm Vamed Engineering is undertaking construction of the site, with loan funding from the Austrian government.

Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley turned the sod for the project back in October 2019.

Minister Deyalsingh says at this time, there’s no plans for the facility to be used as a COVID-19 care centre, given there are currently sufficient hospitals allocated to the parallel health system.
