New Leadership For Saint Kitts And Nevis

By Newsroom

A snap election called in St. Kitts and Nevis ended with the main Opposition Party, the St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party, winning government and ousting the Team Unity Coalition.

Friday’s general election- called three year’s before time- came after the now former Prime Minister Dr. Timothy Harris dissolved the Parliament following a massive internal fallout in his party.

The race was a close one, with SKNLP winning six of the 11 seats up for grabs.

Prime Minister-elect Dr. Terrence Drew,  a medical doctor by profession, will become the Federation’s fourth prime minister.

Dr. Harris had been in office for seven years, having first entered office in 2015 and voted in a for a second term in 2020.

He called elections after dissolving Parliament- a move which averted a debate after several of his Members filed a motion of No Confidence in his leadership.
