Nineteen Arrested During Anti-Crime Operations

Officers arrested 19 suspects for various offences during ongoing anti-crime operations over the past week.

According to the TTPS, in the first exercise, officers of the Southern Division Task Force, acting on intelligence received, proceeded to Upper Barrackpore, Princes Town, around 1 pm, on September 25th, 2024. There, they intercepted three vehicles with a total of nine occupants
which were proceeding in a convoy.

A fourth vehicle sped off. A search of the vehicles resulted in one AR-15 magazine loaded with ten rounds of ammunition, one Glock pistol loaded with ten rounds of ammunition and quantities of cocaine and ammunition being discovered.

The men are expected to be charged with varying offences including Possession of Firearm and Ammunition, Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking, Possession of Firearm to Wit a Magazine, Possession of Ammunition, Assaulting a Police Officer and Resisting
Arrest. Meanwhile, in the Santa Cruz district, Criminal Investigations Department Officers conducted an exercise between 9 am on Sunday 29th September, 2024 and 1:15 am, on Monday 30th September, 2024.

Officers of the North Eastern Division Task Force, the Guard and Emergency Branch, and the Inter-Agency Task Force also assisted in the exercise.

Based on information received of men observed with high-powered rifles in the Upper Santa Cruz district, officers conducted an operation which resulted in the arrest of 10 suspects. The men, ages 19 to 29, all of Upper Santa Cruz, were held in connection with reports of armed robberies and shooting incidents in the district.

Investigations are ongoing into the two above matters.
