No Backlog In COVID-19 Testing, Deyalsingh Says

By Newsroom

There is no backlog of COVID-19 testing. That’s according to Health Minister, Terrence Deyalsingh, who says the delay lies with processing the results from samples already taken.

“On Saturday I was able to report that there were 630 samples in the system to be tested on Saturday, which represented the current number,” Deyalsingh said while speaking at Monday’s COVID-19 media briefing.

‘There is no current backlog for testing. What we were clearing out up to Friday was that backlog. TPHL’s (Trinidad Public Health Laboratory) backlog was cleared up. I think early last week and the backlog we had to clear, which we reported on Friday and Saturday to some extent was that backlog of testing at NCRHA,” he added.

To date, a total of 29,183 tests have been conducted for the virus, representing 26,120 unique patients.
