No Bail For Dad Charged With Raping Daughter, 14

A 48-year-old man who detectives were told sexually assaulted his 14-year-old daughter, was denied bail when he appeared before a Sangre Grande Magistrate.

The accused, a salesman, who resides in Vega De Oropouche, Sangre Grande, was remanded into custody until his next court hearing on August 16th.

The man had previous charges including attempted murder, rape, kidnapping, and larceny.

He was arrested and charged with two counts of sexual penetration of a child by WPC Brooks, of the Eastern Division Child Protection Unit (CPU), on Thursday.

According to the girl, on dates unknown between the period June 30th, 2019, and August 1st, 2019, her father molested her.

She later confided in her aunt who subsequently reported the incidents to the CPU.

The girl has since been placed in her mother’s care.

An investigation, spearheaded by W/Superintendent of Police, Claire Guy-Alleyne, supported by ASP Roberts,  W/Insp Bain-Keller and Sgt. Baptiste, resulted in the charges being laid against the man.
