In a statement yesterday, the MoE disclosed that investigations into the fire began at approximately 11.54 a.m. and are ongoing.
The fire affected one of the prefabricated buildings, along with Blocks F and C. In keeping with safety protocols, the school was immediately evacuated, and the students and staff on-site were safely accounted for,’ the ministry added.
The statement also revealed that emergency services were ‘promptly’ contacted and arrived shortly after the alarm was raised, comprising the Trinidad and Tobago Fire Services (TTFS), Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and the T& T Electricity Commission (T& TEC).
‘Preliminary assessments indicate the affected prefabricated building, which houses the conference room, book room and Dean’s office, sustained significant damage,’ the ministry further stated.
